Nakibul-Eshrafs in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Abstract

Not much research has been conducted so far on the appearance, place and importance of the Nakibul-Eshraf titles in Bosnia & Herzegovina during the Ottoman rule. This páper is an attempt to point at the first Nakibul-Eshrafs in the Ottoman Empire and Bosnia & Herzegovina, the role they performed and families from which they čame. Having in mind that these were mostly respected families from Bosnian and Bosniak society, this páper is an attempt to turn some attention to this topic, and to provoke further scientifíc work on this issue in the future.
