Abstract

This composition brings into relation connotation as one component of expressive meaning, and expressionism as a semantic category. The aim of this analysis is getting answers to the questions what is the role of connotative meaning, what is the concept of connotation related to, and what are ali components of the meaning that expressionism holds. The research is based on the corpus of seven tales written by Hamza Humo. This corpus gave insight into connotation which holds asociality and also insight into characteristics of expressive items which are put on margins of meaning. Beside theoretical facts, the composition brings concrete examples from which we čame to conclusion that connotative meaning of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs can be positive and negative. Finally, connotation is characterized as semantic essence, while expression surpasses disciplined frontiers.
