Lexicographic Properties of Determinants in Monolingual and Bilingual Dictionaries

Abstract

The etymological meaning of lexicology (GR lexikós "word" + logía "leaming or science" i.e. the science of words) and lexicography (GR lexikon "a book of words" + gráphein "writing" i.e. the writing of words) speaks for itself the scope of these branches of linguistics. They both have a common subject: „lexical unit“. The páper deals with lexicographical characteristics of the entry word both in monolingual and bilingual dictionary. Primary literature for monolingual dictionary entries: Rječnik bosanskoga jezika/Bosnian Language Dictionary (Čedič, Ibrahim, 2007, Institut za jezik, Sarajevo) and Školski rječnik bosanskog jezika/ School Dictionary ofBosnian Language (Jahić, Dževad, 1999, Biblioteka LINGUOS, Sarajevo); and for bilingual dictionary entries: Bosansko-engleski i engleskobosanski rječnik/Bosnian-English and English-Bosnian Dictionary (Babić, Milica, 2002, Bosna leksika, Sarajevo).
