Activities of Serbian National Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina During the 1925 Parliamentary Elections

Abstract

After the end of World War I, on 1. of December 1918 new South Slavic state was created, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (KSHS). In the newly created state Serbian nationalist circles have taken power into their own hands, but they were faced with the aspirations of other South Slavic people who desired to participate equally. Also, immediately after the formation of KSHS revival of political and parliamentary life started. In order to maintain power in their hands so called "Nation building parties”, before all the Democratic and Radical Party tried to make the best possible results during the election. For this purpose they formed a nationalist terrorist organization the Serbian national youth organization. It is an election during the 1925. it commited several acts of terrorism (which often had a tragic outcome), against the opposition parties, and they largely contributed to the victory of the Radicals.
