Abstract
This paper indicates special circumstances under which the Venetians conquered forts of the Bosnian eyalet during the Morean war (1684-1699). It deals with the influence of the Venetian spy network and role of the proveditor’s confidants (agents) in the adjacent Ottoman territory. It particularly stresses the betrayal in the Ottoman lines which was often the key factor for the success of the Venetian military campaigns in this war.
