The categorization of male and female roles in the film “The Collectors of Feathers” (1967) enables the continuation of stereotypes and discrimination, by the model of already established prejudices and stereotypes, towards Roma and Romani women, to emphasize their otherness in society and the otherness of the other in the Roma community. The film’s fabular enables a critique of identities and gender roles as well as of the memorialisation of women’s roles found in dialogue of Romani studies with the feminist theory. The film “The Collectors of Feathers” by Aleksandar Saša Petrović confirms violence and promotes a traditionally represented generalization of the way of life, tradition, customs and habits of Roma people through the case of a group of Roma in Vojvodina.
